hey! i'm selin
first-year math student @ duke, interested in edtech
born and raised in lynbrook, new york
i've loved building things for as long as i can remember. i started a slime business when i was 10 and ran it for years, which taught me creativity, grit, and how to turn ideas into something real. that builder mindset has stuck with me ever since.
outside of class, catch me painted in blue in cameron, cafe hopping, making matcha, and pulling my friends into the most random side quests. i spend a lot of time building and customizing my own pcs and keyboards, and right now i'm especially excited to be designing my first piece of hardware with a friend. i just really love creating, exploring, and making the most of every moment!

about me
past

ever since middle school, i've been passionate about uplifting voices that don't always get heard. helping raise my autistic little brother since i was 6 really shaped that, and i've always looked for ways to advocate for him and others like him, especially in school.
in high school, i was deeply involved in debate and band, and i've always been drawn to work around social impact, nonprofits, and the social sector. for a long time, law school felt like a natural next step, especially growing up in an immigrant family, but what's always driven me most is creating real, tangible change in my community.
present

coming to duke really opened my eyes to how many different paths there are. because i care so much about education, i've realized that advocacy and fundraising alone aren't enough to create the kind of change i want to see.
i started freshman year as a political science major, math minor, fully set on the pre-law track. i chose math because i genuinely love it. since then, i've leaned all the way in and switched to majoring in math, taking computer science classes i'd never imagined myself in, and exploring spaces like edtech, startups, vc, and other areas that can create tangible, scalable impact in education. i've even started building my own hardware!
